The treasures of rural Menorca take top billing on this adults-only tour. You'll journey past fields criss-crossed by miles of dry-stone walls as you visit El Toro, Cala Galdana, Binissues stately home and the renowned Son Martorellet stables for a dressage exhibition. Montse, one of our local guides, says, "I love this tour because it combines the countryside with the coast. It's packed with authentic aspects of rural Menorca such as our cheeses and wines, beautiful black stallions and colonial-era homes."
We'll kick off the tour with a visit to the manor house of Binissues, which dates from the century Menorca was under British rule. Wander the grounds and have a poke around the restored interior – there's even an insect museum. From here, you'll visit RIA Avarca Sandals Factory to see how avarca sandals, Menorca's signature footwear, are made the traditional way. There's a shop here, too, where you can treat yourself to a pair if you want a true Majorcan souvenir.
Next up is the village of Fornells, where you'll follow your guide through the whitewashed alleyways down to the harbour as part of a walking tour. Then, it's time to take in the panoramic views over Menorca at Monte Toro, the island's highest point, where you'll also have some lunch. Finally, at Son Martorellet stud farm, take your seat to watch a horse-riding demo featuring some of their sturdiest steeds – the best seats are reserved exclusively for you. The grace and elegance of the endemic Menorquin breed, coupled with the skilled horsemanship of the riders, are something to write home about.
