What to expect

Meeting a local family at their eating table is a cultural food adventure. You enter a completely different world. Each meeting is personal, with only your own family/party and the local family.

After meeting the local family and your first drink, you'll start helping the family with preparing the meal. Just watching, making notes and taking pictures is also possible. Just enjoy!

All local families speak at least some basic English, having the possibility to chat and learn about daily life in this specific country. Talk with the host family about anything you would like to know, including sharing some things about yourself and your home country. What to remember

Know in advance:

On the terrace, you’ll find many shoes. It is customary to take off your shoes before entering a house. Adapt your clothes to the local culture. In bigger cities, they are more open-minded than in the countryside. Too much skin is not appreciated anywhere
Discuss with each other when you or the local family want to take pictures (and/or post them on social media). Most of the time, everyone is fine with it
Meeting point details will be shared with the booking confirmation and voucher you will receive after the booking is done

Don't forget to take your notebook with you to write down all the recipes! And know that the local family will invite you to help with the preparations of your meal
